We recommend to arrive on Thursday evening because we want to start our programme already on Friday morning, Sept. 2.

A few words about the weather:

Although Prien is not situated directly in the Alps but directly at the foothills; that means that the weather can change in minutes and this can be very unpleasant even in summer season.
Summer in Upper Bavaria sees most rainfall during the year ( so called "Bavarian monsoon").

Basic equipment should comprise a good rain protection, a warm sweater and adequate footwear for mountain hiking.
Don´t forget to bring with you a high level sun protection (30-50) for boat trips and mountain excursions.

Thursday, Sept. 1

• Arrival of most participants

• joint dinner and if the weather is nice we can visit one of the beer gardens at the lake.

Friday, Sept. 2

Morning:

• 9.00 h: Visit of the Chiemsee ship wharf and the back shops of the Chiemsee-railway

• Boat trip to "Herreninsel"-island and visit of the famous castle of Bavarian king Ludwig II.

• From Herreninsel we will go on to the "Fraueninsel" (another island); there we will have lunch

Afternoon:

• The continuation of programme depends on the weather and remaining time:

• Train or car ride from Prien to Aschau

• After a short foot walk we take the aerial ropeway to the Kampenwand peak; there we will have a beautiful panorama of the area and Lake Chiemsee.

• Return trip to Prien

• joint dinner

• Meeting at the conference room of the "Luitpold am See" hotel

Saturday, Sept. 3

• Train ride to Salzburg: Departure Prien Bf.: 7.50 h

• 9.00 h: Pick-up service at Salzburg Lokalbahnhof with historical railcar of the "Salzburger Lokalbahn" to the Itzling depot of the SLB

• Visit of the depot, the back shops and the dispatcher office of the SLB

• Return trip with historical railcar via Bergheim back to Salzburg Lokalbahnhof

• Sightseeing and lunch at Salzburg

• Bus ride to Berchtesgaden

• Visit of the Berchtesgaden salt mine (Salzbergwerk)

• Return trip by train to Prien

• Joint dinner at Prien

• Meeting at the conference room of the "Luitpold am See" hotel

Sunday, Sept. 4

Because most participants will leave on Sunday we resigned an agenda for that day. If the weather conditions are fine we can arrange an excursion to local attractions in the closer surroundings of Prien.
